Maker's Mark Private Select Batch #2 Exclusive (70cl / 50% abv)
Brora 40 Year Old 200th Anniversary description
Distilled at Brora on the Sutherland coast in 1978, this limited edition expression has been bottled one year before the almost-lost distillery is due to reopen. Bottled in celebration of the distillery's 200th anniversary, this single malt was laid down at a time when Brora was producing a peated malt using heavily peated northern Highland barley. MAtured for four decades and limited to just 1,819 bottles (in celebration of the anniversary year), this expression is presented at a strength of 49.2% abv.
The nose is rich and sweet with fruity notes, ripe figs, and a fiery, smoky side. The palate is smooth and lightly waxy, with a powerful, rich, darkly sweet flavour becoming more savoury before the smoke emerges and lingers on in the finish.
Knowledge Bar
Brora was founded in 1819 as 'Clynelish', before it was renamed in the 1970s when the current Clynelish distillery was built next door. In 1983 the distillery fell silent for more than three decades until owner, Diageo, announced plans to resurrect the distillery in 2017, along with the iconic Port Ellen distillery on Islay. The renovated distillery will be complete with its original stills, which have been restored by Abercrombie coppersmiths in Alloa.

The Briton, who has won the title in each of the past two years, holds a 74-point lead over Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas with a maximum of 78 available over the remaining three races of 2019.
The only time he has not achieved that was at the rain-hit race in Germany, when he crashed behind the safety car and was delayed during a pit stop. Even then he still came ninth.

If Bottas does not win then Hamilton, who has an excellent record at the Circuit of the Americas, will be the world champion no matter what he does. So, it looks like it will be a 56-lap victory parade for Hamilton, but that does not mean the weekend will be dull.
So, it looks like it will be a 56-lap victory parade for Hamilton, but that does not mean the weekend will be dull. Overtaking is very much possible at the 5.513km circuit in Austin, as was shown last year, with Max Verstappen starting 18th and finishing second, while Sebastian Vettel recovered from an opening-lap spin to move from 15th to fourth. Eventually, Kimi Raikkonen - then of Ferrari - won a thrilling race for what will surely be his final grand prix win as he is now in an uncompetitive Alfa Romeo.
